Scott brings decades of experience and a deeply personal commitment to helping clients build, protect, and ultimately transfer wealth in meaningful ways. As a leader of the Zelniker Dorfman Private Wealth team, he focuses on guiding business owners, entrepreneurs, multi-generational families, and high-profile individuals (including athletes and entertainers) through complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence.
At the core of Scott’s work is a simple but powerful objective: ensuring that clients are positioned not just for financial success, but for long-term security and legacy across generations. He takes pride in helping clients navigate life’s most important moments, serving as both a strategic advisor and a steady, dedicated presence.
Scott works with a diverse group of clients, with particular expertise in business owners, entrepreneurs, and multi-generational families. He is especially drawn to individuals who are building something meaningful, whether that’s a company, a personal brand, or a lasting family legacy.
He also has extensive experience working with athletes and entertainers, helping them navigate the unique financial complexities that come with non-traditional income streams and high-visibility careers. Across all client segments, Scott is focused on maximizing long-term value, aligning financial decisions with broader life goals, and creating structures that support both present needs and future generations.
Scott’s approach is rooted in education, mentorship, and trust. He believes clients should fully understand the “why” behind every recommendation, and he takes the time to ensure they feel confident in every decision being made.
His role often extends beyond traditional financial advising, serving as a sounding board, a guide through challenging situations, and at times, a steadying force during periods of uncertainty. Clients frequently describe him as responsive, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in their well-being. Above all, Scott operates with a clear standard: he doesn’t rest until he knows his clients are positioned properly and can move forward with confidence.
Scott began his career in the financial industry in 1992 as a stockbroker, shortly after completing his education; a pivotal time in his life that also marked the beginning of his marriage. Entering both his career and family life simultaneously, he embraced a period of uncertainty that would ultimately shape the foundation of everything that followed.
His interest in the markets was sparked early, particularly during the 1987 stock market crash while he was in college, an experience that solidified his fascination with investing and economic dynamics.
Over time, his career evolved alongside the industry. In the late 1990s, his focus shifted from transactional work toward comprehensive financial planning, and by the early 2000s, he had helped build a team centered around a private wealth management approach. Today, that evolution continues to shape how he serves clients, with an emphasis on long-term planning, strategic coordination, and deeply personalized advice.
More than 35 years later, Scott has built a career he’s proud of, one that has provided for his family and allowed him to make a meaningful difference in the lives of his clients.
Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor® (CRPC®)
Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist® (CRPS®)
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Boston University
MBA in Finance and Management – Hofstra University
Scott splits his time between Long Island, New York (where he was born and raised) and Sarasota, Florida, where he has lived since 2019. He has been married to his wife, Lisa, since 1992, and together they have three children.
Family has always been central to his life, and he made it a priority to stay closely involved as his children were growing up by coaching their sports teams and building lasting relationships with their friends and community.
He is a passionate New York sports fan, following the Giants, Islanders, Mets, and Knicks, and values time spent with family and friends. He credits his father as a major influence in his life, both for sparking his early interest in the stock market and for instilling his lifelong passion for New York sports.
Scott has been actively involved in his community, particularly through youth athletics. He spent over a decade running youth sports programs in Great Neck and later built a hockey program for the local school district. These efforts reflect his belief in mentorship, teamwork, and the importance of investing time in the next generation.
Stay relevant, show up consistently, and surround yourself with the right people. Growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone and being willing to engage, learn, and evolve over time.

Executive Managing Director
Wealth Advisor
Peter brings a disciplined, relationship-driven approach to helping high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients navigate complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence. He focuses on building investment strategies and asset allocations that are thoughtfully aligned with each client’s broader financial plan and long-term objectives.
At the core of Peter’s work is a commitment to partnership, ensuring clients feel supported, informed, and confident as they move through each stage of their financial lives.
Peter works primarily with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, helping them design and implement investment strategies that support their long-term goals. He is especially drawn to clients who value the relationship and are looking for a dedicated advisor to help guide important decisions over time.
His work centers on integrating financial planning with disciplined investment management, creating a cohesive strategy that evolves alongside each client’s life, priorities, and opportunities.
Peter views each client relationship as a true partnership. While many of his clients lead busy, demanding lives and rely on him to guide the process, he places a strong emphasis on education to ensure they understand the strategy and feel confident in the path forward.
Clients often describe Peter as a strong listener, highly responsive, and someone they trust deeply. That trust is foundational to his approach, and he works to earn and reinforce it in every interaction.
Peter began his career in the financial industry in 1997 with Merrill Lynch, launching what would become a lifelong commitment to helping clients plan, invest, and achieve their goals.
His interest in financial markets started early. As a child, he participated in a classroom “stock market game,” managing a hypothetical portfolio. It was an experience that sparked a lasting fascination. From that point forward, he began working, saving, and investing on his own, building a foundation that would shape his future career.
Over the past 25+ years, Peter has built his career around deep experience, long-term client relationships, and a disciplined process designed to guide clients through every stage of their financial lives. He feels fortunate to have built a career centered on hard work, taking care of clients, and creating a level of success that allows him to give back and be a positive influence in the lives of others. Even with that experience, he remains energized by what’s ahead and believes his best days are still to come.
Bachelor of Science – University of Vermont
Peter lives in Westport, Connecticut, where he and his family relocated after spending 15 years in Manhattan. He has been married to his wife, Alison, for nearly two decades, and together they have two daughters. Family is central to Peter’s life, and much of his perspective (both personally and professionally) is shaped by that role. He is also a proud dog owner to Bode and Ozzie, who he describes as his two best friends.
Outside of work, Peter enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle, including weight training, golf, skiing, cooking, and travel.
Peter has long supported charitable organizations, with a focus on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, two causes that hold deep personal meaning for him.
As a father, he was especially moved to support families facing pediatric cancer, and his experience working in Midtown Manhattan during the events of September 11, 2001, had a lasting impact, which strengthened his connection to organizations that support first responders and their families. In recent years, he has become increasingly involved not just financially, but with his time as well.
Embrace today’s technology, but don’t lose sight of what made the generations before you successful. There’s real value in combining those old-school principles with the tools and opportunities we have today.

To the next generation of women in particular: be your own advocate, and advocate for the women around you. Financial independence starts with understanding your balance sheet, income sources, and objectives (both short- and long-term). If you consistently make decisions with these three things in mind, you’ll be able to reach your goals. You don’t need to be a financial expert to stay informed. Seek sound advice, stay engaged, and encourage your female peers to do the same.
